The first Annual “Paul Szymanski Spirit Award Memorial Scramble” was held at South Toledo Golf Club on August 28, 2010 with 32 foursomes participating including Paul's wife, Sandra; father, Phil; brothers Matt, Mark, and Nick; and sister Jackie. The event was sponsored by the Toledo Junior Golf Association to develop a fund for a perpetual scholarship for a boy or girl that participates in the TJGA, has exhibited outstanding character, and has overcome some adversity in their life.

Jeff Greeno a long time friend of South Toledo Golf Club and the Szymanski family was the Chairman with committee help from Paul’s close friends BJ Claus, Pat Streb and Jeff Mathias. Nick Szymanski, Paul’s brother and PGA Head Professional at STGC was also on the committee.

 “The committee did a fantastic job pulling this event together in such a short time” according to Greg Fish, Owner and PGA Master Professional.

The first scholarship will be awarded in 2011 by the Board of the Toledo Junior Golf Association.
